How to Effectively Manage Heat Generated by Battery Packs During Charging and Discharging Processes


Throughout the life cycle of a battery pack, effective heat management during charging and discharging is essential for safety, performance stability, and service life. As a company deeply committed to battery technology, we have always considered heat management to be integral to the competitiveness of our battery packs. Today, we will share how our battery packs achieve efficient heat control through multidimensional technological innovation.

 

 

Our battery packs are designed with thermal management defenses from the source. Inside the battery pack, the single cell has a "honeycomb" arrangement, with precise heat dissipation channels and high-thermal-conductivity silicone spacers that fill the gaps. This improves heat conduction efficiency by 30%.The battery pack shell is made of lightweight aluminum alloy. It is impact-resistant and enhances air convection through the microchannel structure on its surface. This allows heat to quickly diffuse outside and reduces heat accumulation at the physical level.

 

 

The intelligent temperature control system is the "nerve center" of the battery pack's heat management system. We have equipped the battery pack with a multi-sensor thermal monitoring network that we developed in-house. This network collects real-time temperature data from 12 key points, such as the battery cell, module, and shell, with a sampling frequency of 10 ms.When the local temperature exceeds 45°C, the system automatically activates a graded cooling strategy. First, the built-in fan strengthens the air-cooling cycle. If the temperature continues to rise, the system adjusts the flow of the liquid-cooling pipeline to ensure the battery pack's overall temperature difference is controlled within ±2°C.

 

 

Optimization of the charging and discharging strategy for the battery pack's "active cooling"
Our battery pack is equipped with an intelligent charging and discharging algorithm that dynamically adjusts the current input according to the real-time temperature during the fast charging phase. When the battery cell temperature approaches the threshold, the charging power automatically reduces and the constant voltage phase duration increases to prevent the risk of "thermal runaway."During discharge, the algorithm balances the load distribution of each module to prevent abnormal heating due to overload, ensuring the battery pack maintains a stable temperature during high power output.

 

 

Rigorous testing verifies the battery pack's thermal management reliability. Each battery pack undergoes extreme working condition tests before leaving the factory. These include 100 full-fill-discharge cycles in a 40°C environment to monitor temperature fluctuations, simulations of pulse discharge scenarios involving the rapid acceleration and deceleration of vehicles to verify heat dissipation response speed, and testing of thermal runaway protection capability through needle puncture and extrusion tests. It is these "extreme challenges" that enable our battery packs to stabilize temperature control in all types of application scenarios.

 

 

From hardware design to intelligent algorithms and from real-time monitoring to testing and verification, our battery packs firmly control heat during charging and discharging through a chain of thermal management technologies. In the future, we will continue exploring the integration of new heat dissipation materials and AI temperature control algorithms so each battery pack can achieve the optimal balance of safety and performance and provide users with reliable energy solutions.
