What are the characteristics of lightweight crossing bridges?
As transportation infrastructure practitioners, we developed a lightweight crossover bridge that is revolutionizing urban crossing projects. These bridges are characterized by "lightness, speed, and agility." Using lightweight alloys and composites, they are more than 40% lighter than traditional concrete bridges yet can support the load requirements of main roads. This demonstrates their structural advantage in scenarios such as municipal overpasses and highway crossings.
Our lightweight crossover bridges' most prominent feature is their construction efficiency. Through modular prefabrication design, the traditional construction cycle of several months is compressed into 20 days. Factory-prefabricated components are assembled on-site and erected quickly, like "building blocks." In last year's footbridge project in Chengnan New District, we completed construction of a 28-meter-span bridge in 15 days without causing prolonged traffic disruption, making this "short and quick" method the preferred choice for urban renewal.
In terms of structural design, lightweight bridges are flexible and tough. The force system is optimized by finite element analysis and can adapt to complex geology and extreme environments, such as typhoons and earthquakes. The lightweight design has green advantages, such as lower transportation costs and less construction waste. It has been applied in transportation hubs in three provincial capitals, and its "low intervention and high adaptability" characteristics are becoming an important solution for urban three-dimensional transportation.
We firmly believe that, from material to process innovation, lightweight bridges embody the wisdom of "light load" for urban development. In the future, we will promote these bridges in more scenarios so urban transportation can be lighter and more efficient.
